Financial Analyst (Entry-Level)
Job Summary As a Financial Analyst you will work under the direction of a Senior Consultant or Project Manager in initializing, modifying, and creating Excel-based models to replicate the financial dynamics of public utilities and other government services. You will be part of our team that provides financial analysis assistance, primarily to municipal and county governments in support of the planning, funding, and financing of public utilities and other public resources infrastructure and operation.
Summary of Essential Requirements
- Education – A bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting is preferred.
- Analytical Skills - Strong math, analytical, and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Expertise with MS Excel – Able to develop and use relatively complex spreadsheet models. Experience manipulating variables and analyzing data within MS Excel.
- Experience – This is an entry-level job for applicants with between 0-2 years of experience.
- Communication skills – Ability to communicate complex financial concepts and strategies effectively with other team members.
- Organizational skills – The ability to manage your time effectively, meet multiple project deadlines, and remain organized is paramount.
- Other Skills – Must be detail-oriented, motivated, self-confident, mature, and able to work independently.
- Computer Skills – Must be proficient with Excel, Word, Internet Explorer, and PowerPoint. Experience with Access a plus.
- Honesty and trustworthiness – These are essential traits necessary to reflect the professionalism and integrity that have become cornerstones of our reputation.
- Work under immediate supervision of a Senior Consultant or Project Manager and rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines and templates to perform the functions described below.
- Compile and analyze financial information for public and private utilities and general government clients.
- Develop integrated revenue/expense analyses, sensitivity analyses, financial projections, reports, and presentations.
- Analyze and identify trends and developments specific to one client or among many clients.
- Develop knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry.
- 401(k) – Employees are eligible to participate in the company sponsored 401(k) plan after 1 year of continuous employment.
- Paid Time Off – All full-time employees are eligible for vacation time, 10 days per calendar year, following a 90-day probationary period, increasing 1 day per year of service to 20 days.
